AET Int Ltd – Privacy Policy for Driver Buddy Defence
Your privacy is important to AET Int Ltd, so we’ve developed a Privacy Policy that covers how we collect, use, disclose, transfer, and store your information.Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our privacypractices andlet us knowif you have any questions.
The Driver Buddy DefenceTM Vehicle Security (DBS) System and its associated devices, systems and apps are designed to protect, detect and deter criminal activity targeted at commercial freight, drivers, their vehicles and fleet operators. Therefore, all of AET Int Ltd’s services have been designed with a strong set of privacy principles, including compliance with GDPR, in mind. In summary, here are some key facts you should know:
- Either you or your employer have engaged us to deliver the DBS System for your benefit and we only hold information for your legitimate interest, and only use the data in ways that you would expect.
- We only ask for the minimum necessary personal information to set up your DBS System account and secure evidence required to protect you from penalties if required.
- We only keep data for the minimum period, for example, Trip/Logs will have any personally identifiable information deleted after 6 months, unless required as evidence, when data will be retained for a maximum of 7 years.
- Trip/Log data or your personally identifiable information will only be shared with authorities if required to protect you from penalties. Only you or your Fleet Administrator has access to print this information.
- We never share any personal information with advertisers or marketers – including Google and Facebook.
- We never sell or rent any information to third parties and have no intention to do so.
- A user can request their account to be deleted at any time and all data will be anonymised.
- You will be informed, and have the choice to cancel your account, before any changes to the Privacy Policy can be made that affect your rights.
Information You Provide
- Your Account Information. You provide your email address and password details to create an account. You provide a photo ID or selfie profile picture as proof of your identity and you may have provided credit card details for your subscription. In doing so you are engaging AET Int Ltd to deliver the DBS System service and we will only use this data for your legitimate interest.
- Log and Trip Data. During the prestart checks you are providing information on who is completing the checks via your login ID and password, proof of identity via a picture and evidence of the vehicle and trailer being checked by picture, your location via GPS and picture evidence of the checks you have completed including the unique QR code of the security seal. You control the upload of this information to our secure database via your login ID and password.
**Device and Connection Information**.We collect device-specific information when you install, access, or use our Services. This may include information such as hardware model, operating system information, browser information, IP address, mobile network information including phone number, and device identifiers. We collect device location information if you use our location features, such as emergency calling, and for diagnostics and troubleshooting purposes such as if you are having trouble with our app’s location features.
Automatically Collected Information
- Usage and Log Information.We may collect service-related, diagnostic, and performance information. This includes information about your activity such as log files, and diagnostic, crash, website, and performance logs and reports to help service improvement.
How we use your Information
- Our Service. The primary purpose of the system is to provide a secure and auditable evidence trail of the checks you have completed if challenged by Border Authorities when entering a country. On request this Trip/Log information is provided to the user or fleet operator to be used as evidence as required.
- Communication about our Service. From time to time, we may use your personal information to send important notices, such as communications about subscriptions and changes to our terms, conditions, and policies. Because this information is important to your interaction with us, you may not opt out of receiving thesecommunications.
- Safety and Security.We verify accounts and activity, and promote safety and security on and off our Services, such as by investigating suspicious activity or violations of our Terms, and to ensure our Services are being used legally.
- No Third-Party Banner Ads.We do not allow third-party banner ads. We have no intention to introduce them, but if we ever do, we will update this policy.
Managing your Information
- Cancelling your Account. You may request to cancel your account by emailing info@driverbuddydefence.com. After the standard retention period the Trip/Log and personal information will be deleted.
- Subject Access Request. All individuals who are the subject of personal data held by AET Int Ltd are entitled to:
- Ask what information the company holds on them and why.
- Be clear on how to gain access to it.
- Be informed how to keep it up to date.
- Be informed how the company is meeting its data protection obligations.
If an individual contact the company requesting this information, this is called a subject access request. Individuals will be charged £10 per subject access request and the Data Protection Officer will respond within 14 days of the request. The Data Protection Officer will always verify the identity of the requestee before handing over the personal information using the individual’s driving licence number held on record.

- Right to be Forgotten
A DBS System user can, on ending their subscription, request the right for all their personal data to be deleted in advance of the normal data retention periods. This is requested by email to

Once the data has been identified the user is informed by email that their data has been deleted, following which their email address is deleted.
- Fleet Operations / Employer. Fleet operators or employers will only have read only access to trip/log information and user account details via the fleet administration system for their own fleet subscriptions. They will be able to produce an evidence report on your behalf to be used to prevent UKBF penalties.
- Trip/Log Retention Period. In accordance with principles of the Data Protection Act, trip/log data will only be retained for 6 months post upload, unless required to be retained due to ongoing legal proceedings to a maximum of 7 years, or a longer retention period if required by law.
- Third Party Services. AET Int Ltd will not disclose your personal information to any third party services for commercial purposes without updating this privacy policy.
- Governmental Authorities. It may be necessary – by law, legal process, litigation, and/or requests from public and governmental authorities for AET Int Ltd to release personal information including trip/log data. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that for purposes of national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary or appropriate.
- We may also disclose information about you if we determine that disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our terms and conditions or protect our operations or users. Additionally, in the event of a reorganization, merger, or sale we may transfer any and all personal information we collect to the relevant third party.
- Protection of your Information. AET Intl Ltd takes the security of your personal information very seriously. App services will protect your personal information during transit using encryption such as Transport Layer Security (TLS). When your personal data is stored, we use computer systems with limited access housed in facilities using physical security measures. iCloud data is stored in encrypted form including when we utilize third-party storage.
